A task app with a hard ceiling. For people who know some of this isn't getting done.
A handful of tasks, and no backlog.
Try it
A working copy, with the real rules. Swipe a row right to complete it or left to close it, tap one to see its milestones, and try adding a fifth.
You already know which ones aren't getting done.
If you're anything like me, the to-do list goes something like this: every morning you write down everything, thirty-odd things if you're being honest, cross-reference it against yesterday's to make sure nothing got dropped, and then circle the two or three you actually feel like doing. Everything else carries over to tomorrow, where you'll write it down again.
Some of those have been carrying over for months now, and at some level you know you're never going to do them, but there's never a good moment to say so, so they stay on the list and quietly make the whole thing a little less believable.
At that point it isn't really a plan anymore. It's a record of everything you once meant to do, and it gets a bit longer every day.
Unresolved is for the other list, the short one you'd have circled, and it's built so the long one can't grow back.
Three rules.
Oldest on top.
Tasks are sorted by how long you've been avoiding them, so the one you keep skipping is the first thing you see every time you open the app. It doesn't send you notifications about it, it just stays at the top until you deal with it one way or the other.
A ceiling.
You get five tasks on the free version and ten on Pro, and when you're full the Add button switches off. If you want to put something new on the list you have to finish or close something that's already on it, which is more or less the whole idea.
Two ways out.
Completing a task means you did it, and it moves to the Resolved page with its milestones intact, so if it turns out you weren't quite done you can bring it back without setting it all up again. Closing one means you're letting it go on purpose, because things change and some tasks stop mattering, and a closed task is gone for good. Either way it leaves the list and the slot opens up.
Nothing on it from last year.
Everything on the list is either something you actually intend to do or something you're about to admit you don't, which means you always know what you're carrying and what you've put down. There's no thirty-item scroll of things you stopped seeing months ago.
The list lives on your phone, with no account and no sync, so there's nobody at our end who could see it even if we wanted to.

The actual app, for the record. iPhone only for now.
Local first. No account. No sync.
I built this for myself.
I'm one of the thirty-item-morning-list people, so I built an app that only lets me keep a handful, and then I let it sit unreleased for months because releasing it turned out to be one of the things I was avoiding. I'm aware that I named it Unresolved.

It's on TestFlight now, App Store soon.
The TestFlight build is the real app, free, and it's what I use every day. If you'd rather wait for the App Store version, send me an email and I'll write back when it's out.
Rather wait for the App Store? Email me and I'll tell you when it's out.
There's no mailing list. I read every one of these and reply myself, so if you want to tell me why you're interested, I'd like to know.
